Viewer Comments: I’m Reading The Wrong Bible

So a friendly man engaged me on twitter today to inform me that I simply read the wrong bible. Had I read the right one and belonged to the right denomination I’d still be a believer. I hope you enjoy it.

  1. Rather egotistical for a person to think an all powerful all knowing deity must spread its message through their personal favored holy book. Why that almost limits their god to the mankind level. And they never can figure it out. Great post. Hugs

  2. Interesting that this person would recommend the NIV which is notorious for leaving out complete verses. Matthew 17:21, 18:11, 23:14, Mark 7:16, 9:44, 9:46, 15:28, Luke 17:36, John 5:3-4, Acts 8:37, 15:34, 24:6-8, 28:29, Romans 16:24 and 1 John 5:7-8 are completely removed from the NIV. I have a copy of the NLT (New Living Translation) which also has these verses removed. If you open up to Matthew 17, verse 20 and read it completely, you’ll see it jump right to verse 22. Where’s 21? Not there. Seems that God really liked these verses early on and then changed his mind for later translations…even though God doesn’t change his mind.

It really is too bad you couldn’t pick the right version. I must have chosen the wrong version(s) myself as I no longer believe. When someone can’t keep their story straight, they are usually labelled a liar. When the church does it, they say the changes don’t really matter. Just have faith and enjoy this age of grace.
